Among the clouds

Today we, at Marathon Bloggers, kick off a week of picture prompts

‘a story for every picture, a picture for every story’

Today’s prompt – ‘Fly’
Going literally with ‘flying’, here’s my entry.
That’s as close as I’ve ever come to flying. We were on a family vacation to Dapoli – 13 of us. We’d hired this huge bus so we could all travel together. I remember thinking what an unlucky number we were. However it turned out to be a fantastic holiday and remains a benchmark for all of us. Each time we plan a holiday it’s like, “As good as Dapoli” or “Dalpoli was more fun”.
I’m not sure what made me let myself get strapped to that contraption. I’m absolutely not an adventurous soul — the typically safe and conservative Capricorn. That day I agreed, I still wonder why. The trip into the clouds lasted barely minutes and everyone else came down complaining how ‘tame’ it was. My 7-year old nephew was gravely upset because he wasn’t allowed to go. Anyhow, I rose in my estimation that day and thought no end of myself for having dared to do it.
So there.. that’s the story for that picture. Aren’t those rippled clouds beautiful?
What’s the most adventurous thing you’ve ever done?

A new beginning

He tried hard, desperately hard, to survive, seeking support from his community, his religion, his people. Once, he had been completely invincible. But then as strong hands came together holding up the proud flag … orange and green .. he died, forever. Where there is unity, strife has to die. He died because they wouldn’t accept him.

Today’s prompt was ‘They said he died because they wouldn’t accept him’. I refuse to mourn on such a happy day and so decided to celebrate the end of strife and all else that’s not well with our country.

HAPPY REPUBLIC DAY!!!!

And with that we come to the end of our week long 55 festival at Marathon Bloggers. What a blast it has been.

The real stuff!

Tall, dark and handsome,
rich and maybe famous too..
that’s all what I had
dreamt of before I met you.
That dream you broke, you
sure did,
A hundred new ones you
gave me instead.
Tall, dark and handsome is only
fluff
Fame and fortune are just
not enough,
This is IT – the real
stuff.

Day 5 of the Marathon Bloggers’ 55er week and I’m still here. Today’s prompt is ‘Dreams’.

The weighing machine

I watched her watching me for months. But I stood unmoving, stoic,
pretending disinterest. She reciprocated, pretending disinterest in my
disinterest.
She came, each day. Each day we played out this charade.
I didn’t give up. She didn’t either.
Finally…… she wore me out. I gave in. I moved.

Triumphant, she announced, “I’ve lost weight!”

Day 4 at Marathon Bloggers’ 55er week. And today’s prompt – Weighing Machine. Whew!!

The kiss

She came down for office and found that familiar ball of fur parked on her scooter.
Darn that cat!!
Each day, every day she messed her seat,
scratched the cover, left muddy footprints.
She’d had enough. Determined, she charged at her and saw…

… not one cat but two. The tender kiss took her breath away.
It’s Day 3 at the Marathon Bloggers’ 55 festival. Today’s prompt is The tender kiss.
