Days 9. 10

Day 9
Naisha’s still crying and I’m still going to sleep. Mama says that’s a man’s way of dealing with stress – going off to sleep! Anyway at least I’m not crying like Naisha.

Day 10
Today was BAD. Naisha started crying as soon as mama started dressing her for school. By the time mama got to dressing me up she had taken off her shorts and was stripping off her diaper crying that she didn’t want to go to school… quite sad! She cried all the way and all through the class. Meeta ma’am was a little strict with us today and told us to keep quiet, which seemed to work with Naisha because she did quieten down. She even had a choco biscuit from her tiffin. And the weekend’s here so no school for two days… yippeeeee!

Days 7, 8

Today mama took us to school early. She thought that if she played with us for a while before we went into the class we’d get used to the place and not miss her. She kept showing us the class and telling us how much fun we could have there. But we were not fooled… we knew she’d leave us and go soon. Naisha started crying as soon as we entered the school and letting mama go was tougher than the other days. She looked quite sad when she handed us over to the teacher. I wonder why she has to leave us and go… I mean none of us likes it so why take the trouble?????
I went off to sleep in the class on ‘our’ swing and Naisha cried on and off. When school was over the teachers sent out Naisha because I was sleeping and that made matters worse because she thought I was being left back. She she cried harder and tried to get back into the class for me. Isn’t that really brave and sweet? But of course mama would never leave without me.

Day 8
After yesterday mama decided it was best to leave us quickly and come back. So we went right in time… she handed us over to the teacher and left! We listened to some rhymes, which I really enjoyed…towards the end I slept off again. Naisha kept crying today too. She again thought I was not coming home with her and kept crying ‘bhalu…bhalu’ when she came out of the class. I came out rubbing my eyes.. Not crying…That was a first for me and mama was quite thrilled. In fact most children have stopped crying and are learning to like school. I wish Naisha would stop being so sad. Mama tries to talk to her every night before we sleep. She asked Naisha why she cried at school and all Naisha said was ‘mama hand chahiye’ (that’s because mama says ‘no godi only hand’)! She refuses to say that she won’t cry.

Day 6

The weekend came and we were quite relieved that we had no school for two days. Unfortunately Hrit bhai fell ill and had fever all through Saturday and Sunday. But come Monday and mama was marching us back to the Treehouse! She really never does give up. This week we have to stay there for one whole hour. We got new bags – a Spiderman bag for bhai and a Barbie for me. But It’s no good. Nothing can cheer us up… nothing can make us happy in that sad room full of crying children. We carried tiffin boxes today with cream biscuits. I didn’t feel like eating anything at all but when all the children started eating I too nibbled at a biscuit. Today we were the first ones to come out of the class. Was great to get back to mama. By the time we reached home we’d stopped crying. We thought mama would be a sport and let us play in the puddles again but she dragged us home. Unlike the other days we didn’t go straight to bed today. We played for sometime and even had some lunch which was a first. Can’t believe we’ve to go again tomorrow… sigh!

Day 5

Still crying…rote rote gaye rote rote aaye but we did explore the classroom a bit. The best part was that when we came back ma allowed us to do chhap chhap in ALL the puddles of the society garden. That was great fun. But the moment we entered the house we fell asleep. School sure is tiring.

Off to school – 2

Day 4
We cried a lot today too but mama just isn’t moved. The moment Rit bhai saw a teacher he got so worked up that he tried to run away from her but in the heat of the moment he didn’t realise which way he was supposed to run and ended up dashing straight into the class! However he got better soon and even explored the slide in the class. The other kids seem a bit better too. Teacher said the morning batch had settled down which made mama feel very jealous. It was Zalak’s birthday today. Zalak is one of our classmates and she’d got chocolates for everyone. That made things a bit cheerful for us. But she didn’t seem too happy. She kept crying for her mama and the teachers had to distribute the chocos.
