#Microblog Monday 1 – A book over the weekend

A well worn beanbag and a fun breezy book were the two things I had in my island of happiness this weekend. Sophie Kinsella’s The Undomestic Goddess is a great way to relax. What an absolute fun read! Wonder how I missed it despite having read a host of others by her.

The thing about it is that it’s completely unbelievable in a very filmi kind of way. I mean what are the odds of someone giving up a high flying job (no matter how huge an error they make) to become a housekeeper? And mastering gourmet cooking over a weekend or two? Or having a handsome gardener at hand to ensure a happily ever after?

Yet it’s highly relatable at some level. As in don’t we all have ‘to do’ lists that remain ‘to do’ for ever? Don’t we all have horrid bosses who hand over work just when we’ve something planned? And of course the cooking debacles! I too have tried boiling an egg in the microwave.

A weekend well spent!

  1. seems I need to get that on my kindle 🙂
    Egg in microwave! hahaha
*well what am I laughing at, I once melted the container while cooking maggi 😛

    1. It wasn't meant to be a review Archana.. I just wanted to share my fun weekend. But if it gives some idea of what the book was then it's great.

  2. That's funny that you brought up the egg in the microwave because I tried poaching an egg in the microwave a few weeks ago. I wrote up the notes on how to do it in my journal. And then, afterward, had to write: "this doesn't work." Two eggs wasted.

    Sounds like a fun book.

    1. It is. We had to get our microwave repaired after the incident and the technician asked me, 'how did you manage to get water inside'. I really had nothing to say!

    1. I agree! Sometimes a totally bananas novel is the only thing that keeps me from losing it. 😀

It sounds like a quirky little book, and a marvelous weekend.

  3. I've also read some books that have plot turns that seem completely unbelievable. Yet coincidences and other strange things do happen in real life. Glad you enjoyed the book and your weekend.

  4. Boiling an egg in the microwave is something I have not tried, to be honest. And, ahem, handsome gardener at hand? Now I HAVE to read this book 😉
